Last Minute Primmin'

Well... the move is less than 2 weeks away. But before i could get my work room packed up i had to finish up some dollies for my mother in law's shop, since she opens for the spring next month... if weather cooperates. They are doing a bunch of remodeling, painting floors and things, but it's been tooooo cold for everything to dry. Anyway... i thought i'd share some pics of what i'm putting in the shop for when she opens.

These first ones are from a Sweet Meadows Farm pattern.... Maureen has the best patterns!!

Then these sweeties are from my own pattern. I'm hoping... if all goes as planned... to have these up on my site after the move..... and soon have a pattern available for them too!

Well, i'm off to start packing up my work room.... have a blessed rest of the week!!

Crazy Days

Here I sit watching my crazy boys unwind from their dump truck races down the hallway... the smell of baking cinnamon coated muslin and paint fills the air **cough cough**... all I can think is, I love this time! They are quiet... and oh so cute.... I'm having a productive morning..... what can be better? Soon my 5yo will be on the afternoon bus to school.... and my 2yo will be sleeping!! That's when Momma can really be productive!! If I don't sit here too long lol!
Later I will have some "girl time". A friend is coming to visit.... and get her hair colored. She is getting married in July... so there will be much talk of dresses, flowers, veils, old, new, borrowed, and BLUE (which is my favorite color... just in case you were wondering). Aside from the fact that i will not be seeing hubby till late (he's taking college courses tues and thurs nights)... this will be a good day.

Here's a peek at what i'v been working on. These two are on ebay right now..... awaiting a new home. If you would like to take a better look just click on the pics.
God Bless you today!!!

First Collection!

I am sooooo excited!!! Thanks to some of my wonderful prim sisters i have decided to start a collection of dolls. I have no idea how many will be in this series.... but i do know it will be fun creating all of them! The theme of my collection is "A Bit of Vintage Whimsy". I will be taking vintage images from old postcards, greeting cards and things as my inspiration.
My first doll in the series is a pretty make do doll, inspired by a vintage Valentine postcard from artist Ellen Clapsaddle. I am working on another doll right now from another Ellen Clapsaddle postcard.... can't wait to see how she comes out!
You can view the auction for this doll by clicking on the photo.

New to the game

Well..... where do i begin on this new adventure???
My hope with this blog is to share a bit of myself, my business, friends, and fun things i find along the way. With Christmas right around the corner i'm always looking for new ways to save money, but give my friends and family wonderful memories.... and maybe a few nice gifts mixed in there too. Thankfully most of the women i know have asked for hand made gifts.... and ofcourse i have barely even started... UGH! I am probably the worst procrastinator ever.
Here's one thing i did a couple years ago to save money.... and they were a HUGE hit!!

Mason Jar Recipes..... great for people who love to cook but might not have the time to put things together. There are many sites based around this idea..... with some unique recipes. Just Google "Jar Recipes" and see what you can find.
Here's one recipe I found that looks delicious..... and would be very pretty and festive in the jar. I might just have to make these up for myself.... YUM!

Chocolate Cranberry Cookies Mix in a Jar recipe

Layer the following ingredients in order in a 1-quart wide mouth canning jar:

3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder (clean inside of jar with tissue after this layer)
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed firmly
1 1/2 cups dried cranberries
1 cup chocolate chips
1 3/4 cups flour plus 1 teaspoon baking powder plus

1/2 teaspoon baking soda (mixed)

Remember to press firmly between each layer. Place lid and ring onto jar.

Attach the following recipe on a gift tag:

Chocolate Cranberry Cookies:

Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl. Add 1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until completely blended. Shape into balls and place 2 inches apart on sprayed baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 13-15 minutes.

Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
